The Actos lawyers of Williams Kherkher discuss France and Germany’s recent moves to suspend the prescription of Actos
Clinical studies of the diabetes medication Actos in France and Germany have recently suggested that use of this medication may increase a patient’s risk of developing bladder cancer. For this reason, the French Medicines Agency has decided to entirely suspend the use of Actos for new patients, as well as suggesting that current Actos users consult with their medical caregivers about whether to continue use of their prescriptions. The German government has issued similar recommendations.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is currently evaluating the potential health risks of Actos. While the use of Actos in new patients is still permitted in the United States, it is recommended that the drug not be used in patients who currently have bladder cancer and that caution be taken in prescribing the medication to those with a history of bladder cancer. Furthermore, the FDA has required that all Actos medications carry warnings alerting patients of the risk of bladder cancer associated with Actos use.
The Actos lawsuit attorneys of Williams Kherkher are prepared to assist those who have taken Actos and may have developed bladder cancer to pursue legal action against the manufacturer of this medication.
