The journal Neuropsychopharmacology has published a study that shows Actos may be useful in treating depression.
The study, conducted by researchers at Tehran University, shows that Actos might help boost the effects of antidepressant drugs in treating major depressive disorders. The study found that patients who took Actos alongside their antidepressants reported more symptom relief.
However, Actos has strongly been linked to anĀ increased risk of bladder cancer, especially when taken for more than a year. Therefore, this newly-found use forĀ pioglitazone, the active ingredient in Actos, may lead to many more cases of bladder cancer in the future.
