The largest drugmaker in Asia, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, may now face nearly 10,000 lawsuits over the Type 2 diabetes medication, Actos.

The cases were consolidated in December and the first hearings are set to be heard in March. These lawsuits claim that Actos increased their risk of developing bladder cancer when used for over a year.

France and Germany no longer have Actos on the shelves after Takeda pulled it from them when claims of bladder cancer increased. The drug maker could now face more than 10,000 claims against them.
