A man from Houma has filedĀ a lawsuit claiming that his diabetes medication caused him to develop bladder cancer.
The man is now seeking compensation from the drug maker, Takeda Pharmaceuticals after he contracted bladder cancer from the Type II diabetes medication, Actos.
The lawsuit stated that the man used Actos for over a year without knowing the possible complications that could occur from doing so. The man is seeking damages for what he described as severe and permanent injuries.
Actos has been on the shelves since 1999, but in Summer 2011, the increased risk of bladder cancer was discovered and a warning was added to the drug’s label and web site.
