A man in Louisiana recently filed a lawsuit against Actos manufacturer Takeda in the state’s Western District federal court. The man requested legal remedies of over $75,000.
The Houma man took the Type 2 diabetes drug for between 1 and 2 years before learning that taking it put him at a risk of developing bladder cancer. The man did contract bladder cancer, and his suit argues that he suffered serious and permanent injuries from taking Actos.
The lawsuit states that Takeda “concealed and continue[s] to conceal their knowledge that Actos can cause bladder cancer.” Actos’s website currently has a warning that simply states that the medication can cause “an increased chance of having bladder cancer.”
