Paula Deen, the Food Network chef who is known for cooking fattening, Southern meals, has revealed to the public that she is suffering from Type 2 diabetes.
She stated that she was diagnosed with the condition over three years ago, but decided to keep it to herself so that it would not get in the way of her enjoyment for life. This public confirmation has been met with much criticism due to the fact that all of Deen’s famous recipes are ladled with fat and sugars.
Diet is a large factor in the development of Type 2 diabetes. Paula has been cooking meals high in saturated fats for several years and was worried that her fans would consider her a hypocrite if she revealed her diagnosis. She now says that she is lightening up some of her dishes in order to continue to enjoy them.
