This week it was announced that all lawsuits against Actos that were filed with the state of California will be consolidated during pretrial proceedings.
Unlike the recent consolidation of all Actos lawsuits to the Western District of Louisiana, those lawsuits were filed with the federal government. Actos manufacturer Takeda Pharmaceuticals says it plans to file a motion to have the California lawsuits transferred to the federal multidistrict litigation in Louisiana.
However, California prosecutors will fight to keep the lawsuits within the state since Takeda operates in San Diego.
Actos is a prescription for people suffering with Type 2 Diabetes. A 10 year-study by the FDA revealed that people taking the drug could have an increased risk of developing bladder cancer.
