A forum for bladder cancer patients and their families is being held at the Houston Marriott at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network is hosting the event on December 10.
At the event, Fellowship Director of Urologic Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center Dr. Ashish Kamat, Chair of Urologic Oncology at the Baylor College of Medicine Dr. Seth Lerner, and a panel of bladder cancer specialists will discuss the disease, treatment options, and bladder cancer research and advances.
The president of the BCAN stated, “Many people don’t realize how prevalent bladder cancer is, and as a result, patients that suffer from bladder cancer can often feel isolated. Our goal in hosting the forum in Houston is to bring these patients together and give them the best information we can.
This year alone, more than 3,500 people in Texas will be diagnosed with bladder cancer. The risk of bladder cancer increases with age and people who smoke have a greater chance of developing bladder cancer.
The Type 2 diabetes medication, Actos, has also been linked to bladder cancer. If you or a loved one developed bladder cancer after taking Actos, contact the Actos bladder cancer attorneys of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-641-9810 today.
