What is Hematuria?

One of the clearest warning signs that there is something wrong in a person’s urinary tract is hematuria. Hematuria is the presence of blood in a person’s urine and is a symptom of numerous health complications, including bladder cancer.

Actos, a Type 2 diabetes medication, has been shown to greatly increase a person’s risk of developing bladder cancer. If you have developed bladder cancer or are showing signs of bladder cancer after taking Actos, our Actos lawsuit attorneys of Williams Kherkher may be able to help you seek compensation for your medical costs and other cancer-related expenses. Contact our experienced Actos lawyers at 800-641-9810 to learn more about how we can help you.

Types of Hematuria

Hematuria is divided into two categories, microscopic and gross. A microscopic hematuria is invisible to the naked eye and can only be seen using some form of analysis, such as a microscope or urinalysis. This kind of hematuria is harder to detect because it is likely to go unnoticed for long periods of time.

On the other hand, a gross hematuria is clearly visible to the naked eye. This can be a sign that there is a major problem present in the urinary tract. Gross hematuria is often the sign that there is a tumor somewhere in the urinary tract or the organs that work with it. If you have visible blood in your urine, it is important that you seek medical treatment and evaluation immediately.
